14-2 Boys Assistant Coach: Jacob Roberts
Coach Jacob Roberts, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, brings a growing passion for volleyball and youth development. Currently a junior in high school, Jacob has six years of experience as a player and is eager to grow into his coaching role. His journey started with watching his friend’s sister play varsity volleyball, which sparked his interest and dedication to the game.
Coaching Experience and Specialization
Jacob has played three years of recreational volleyball and three years of club volleyball. His primary positions are libero and setter, where he focuses on defensive consistency and playmaking. He occasionally assists with coaching at his local rec center and enjoys sharing the game with younger players.
Why He Loves Volleyball and Coaching Philosophy
Jacob loves how volleyball combines different skills, strategy, and teamwork. His coaching philosophy centers around effort and perseverance: if players give their best and don’t give up, they will improve. He encourages a fun, motivated team culture that helps athletes grow while enjoying the game.

Personal Interests and Fun Fact
Outside of volleyball, Jacob enjoys welding and attends welding school.
Fun Fact: He has moved 10 times and spent much of his childhood growing up in Europe.
Vision for the Future
Jacob hopes to remain involved in volleyball for many years, whether as a player, coach, or mentor. He aims to help others discover and fall in love with the sport just as he did.
